Step-By-Step Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing, also known as online marketing or web marketing, is a relatively straightforward and easy method of making money on the internet. Essentially, affiliate marketing is when you promote certain products for a third-party company and a visitor purchases the item or becomes a lead, and then the seller or marketer earns either a fixed commission or a certain percentage of the sales. For instance, let's say that you are a person who owns and operates a website that sells pet supplies. Instead of just having your website hosted offsite, you might want to include affiliate links in the site that would take visitors to a pet store or other affiliate websites where they could make a purchase.

This same concept works with any business, not just with affiliate marketing. Basically, the affiliate marketer makes a specific commission on each sale or lead that is generated by their own company. Most affiliate marketing programs offer a fixed commission per lead or sale and vary greatly in the details of their commission structure. The best affiliate marketing programs will have several levels of commission, from a very low base commission for the smallest amount of leads or sales to a variable commission that is based on the number of sales or contacts made by the marketer.

Now, the easiest way to earn a little cash from your website or blog readership is to simply have a Google AdSense program enabled. That's right, every time someone clicks on one of your affiliate links and visits your website or blog, you are automatically earning a commission from Google. In a nutshell, Google AdSense is an advertisement that displays on your site or blog, whenever readers click on it. It is Google's unique way of making money off of content that your readers find relevant.

If you want to truly be successful with affiliate marketing, then you need to focus on visitors who are truly seeking information or answers to their questions. These are the type of traffic that Google AdSense is designed for. These are the kind of people who will likely not be interested in your affiliate marketing program, unless they come to your website looking for answers to pressing problems. In order to attract these readers, you will want to concentrate on building a community around your website or blog, which will in turn drive them to your site to seek answers to their questions. For example, if you sell information about solar panel installation, you could include links to any articles, videos, or eBooks about the subject, along with a note box or two for a free solar panel installation.

Another strategy that can earn you a passive income through affiliate marketing is creating an Ask Me Now section on your blog or website. Include a link to an opt-in form where readers can provide their name and email address so you can send them future articles about the topics. You may also want to create a Facebook Fan Page that includes links to your website or blog as well. This can turn into quite a business, as people begin to know about your products and services and become interested in learning more.

Finally, you need to take the time to get started. While affiliate marketing can be very profitable, it can also be easy to get distracted and fail. To avoid this, do not post or submit any new content for an hour or two after you've been online for three or four days. Creating new content will keep you sharp, and allow you to develop an audience that will eagerly look for more content from you as they try to grow their business with your help.

The final strategy I'm going to discuss is one that many marketers have not thought of before: using YouTube to promote your affiliate marketing website or blog. YouTube is the second largest search engine on the planet, and it's perfect for targeting specific keywords to help you generate traffic to your website. You can also incorporate advertising on YouTube with the use of PPC or pay per click advertising, but YouTube provides the highest return on investment. The greatest benefit of using YouTube as part of your affiliate marketing strategy is that you have total control over who sees your ad. If you own a popular channel, your ad can be seen by millions of people every single day!

If you're interested in reaching a targeted audience through affiliate marketing, blogging, and creating video content, YouTube should be at the top of your list. By providing insightful and entertaining videos related to your niche, you can reach readers on a completely different level. Through YouTube, you can establish yourself as an expert in your niche, draw in new readers, and attract more potential buyers. For many marketers, YouTube is another great way to promote your website or blog and drive traffic to it. Use it to increase traffic to your site today.
