Affiliate Marketing Study

Affiliate Marketing is a broad category of activity-based marketing, where a merchant compensates one or more affiliates for every visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. Affiliate marketing is often confused with link building, because both types of marketing use other third parties to bring targeted traffic to the merchant's website. However, there are significant differences between affiliate marketing and link building. Affiliate marketing focuses on attracting new customers, while link building relates more to building backlinks on other websites.

To be an affiliate marketer in today's business world, you will need training. That training should cover not only general information about how to find a product or service that is related to your site, but also how to properly apply those techniques to your campaigns. Proper affiliate management and billing are essential to success as an affiliate, and good affiliate management software is absolutely necessary. You will also need to become familiar with the entire process of affiliate marketing and know all the rules and regulations associated with it.

Some of the most popular methods of affiliate marketing are PPC (pay-per-click) advertising, article marketing, blogs, press releases and RSS feeds. Affiliate programs pay a commission to publishers who refer traffic to merchants' websites. Some merchants offer Pay-per-click programs through their affiliate programs. Other merchants allow merchants to submit articles about their products or services and include a link back to the merchant's website, which can result in even more traffic to the merchant's website.

There are three main types of affiliate marketing. Cost Per Click (CPC), Cost Per Action (CPA) and Cost Per Sale (CPS). Cost Per Click advertising is considered the most effective. In this form of advertising, a marketer pays a pre-determined amount for each individual visitor who clicks on the affiliate website's ad. This type of advertising generates the highest percentage of results. This type of advertising is very cost effective, however, many affiliates who use this form of advertising find themselves spending a lot of money every day and do not generate a high amount of sales or leads.

Cost Per Action (CPA) is another method of affiliate marketing. In this form of advertising, when a visitor clicks on the affiliate link, the marketer will be charged a commission. The commission amount will vary depending on the affiliate program, the website the visitor clicked on, the affiliate marketing campaign and many other factors. Most CPA networks provide a guarantee that a marketer will receive a certain amount of CPA commission every time a customer or visitor goes through their website.

Another effective form of affiliate marketing involves Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing. PPC marketing allows affiliates to bid on keywords or key phrases and if a customer searches that keyword or key phrase, the marketer will be charged a predetermined commission. Affiliates who use PPC marketing often find that it is more cost effective than other methods of affiliate marketing. Many affiliates who are successful in PPC marketing make a very good living, however, because it is difficult to research and track the success of every affiliate marketing campaign.

Finally, there is the affiliate marketing channel. An affiliate marketing channel includes products and services that are offered by more than one merchant. An example of this would be products and services offered by major online retailers such as Amazon and eBay, as well as niche products and services specific to a specific geographic location. Some affiliates work only with a single merchant, while others choose to work with many different merchants. With an affiliate marketing channel, affiliates can increase their brand awareness, increase their traffic and their sales, and build a residual income.

Affiliate networks are a great way for affiliates to promote their affiliate marketing campaigns. These networks also provide a way for merchants to increase their exposure to their target audience, as well as, generate leads and sales from other merchants. This is another way that affiliate marketing can benefit both the marketer and the affiliate.
